Using a concert opera format, Maryland Lyric Opera (MDLO) plans to focus the performance on the power of the human voice to realize the operatic experience fully.   In an electronic age where the untarnished voice is a rare commodity, MDLO intends to encourage an atmosphere of creativity and originality to inspire a new age of classical operatic singing.  Maryland Lyric Opera is very excited to launch its debut season in the summer of 2014 with the dual production of Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci.  Performances will be given on July 19, 20, 26 and 27 at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, MD.  The Saturday performances will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
