We are very pleased to announce that Joshua Baumgardner, the second-place winner in our Vocal Competition, performed in Master Class produced by our partner, Lyric Opera Virginia, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on January 30, 31, and February 1, 2. Joshua will be heard again when this production reprises in May in Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg.
Soprano Merideth Marano, a finalist in our Vocal Competition, will sing the role of Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci. This production will be presented by the newest opera company in the area—Maryland Lyric Opera—when it debuts this July.
The Bulgarian Music Society presented two of the prizewinners (the third winner was engaged elsewhere) and one of the finalists of the Vocal Competition in a concert at the Bulgarian Embassy on March 28.
Baritone Norman Garrett, who won the first prize in our Vocal Competition, has been engaged by the National Philharmonic to sing in its 10th anniversary concert in 2015.
