Washington Concert Opera and the Iona Senior Center will offer a new series of lectures on operas. Peter Russell, the founding artistic advisor of WCO and current general director of Vocal Arts DC, will provide commentary on the works and introduce key dramatic and musical scenes for each opera.
The Iona Center is located at 4125 Albemarle Street, NW, Washington, DC, about one block from the Tenleytown Metro stop (red line), exit the west side of Wisconsin Avenue. Limited parking is available under the building. This series will be held on Tuesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., as follows:
February 19 – Roberto Devereux by Donizetti
February 26 – La Voix Humaine/Dialogues of the Carmelites by Poulenc
March 5 – Il Viaggio a Reims by Rossini
March 12 – Rigoletto by Verdi
March 19 – The Flying Dutchman by Wagner
March 26 – A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Britten
