The Catholic University of America’s (CUA’s) Benjamin T. Rome School of Music will present the timeless love story of Romeo and Juliette by Charles Gounod at the Hartke Theater in March 2013. The opera, to be presented in its traditional setting, will be directed by Dave Toulson (Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Piedmont Opera, Washington National Opera, etc.) and conducted by CUA alumnus Adam Turner (resident conductor for Virginia Opera, Syracuse Opera, Central City Opera, etc.) The performances will have a double cast of graduate and undergraduate students and will be produced by the opera division’s staff: Katerina Souvorova, music director; Rick Christman, opera consultant; Henriette Lund, diction coach; Nicolas Catravas, rehearsal accompanist; and Dominic Traino, production manager.
Performances will be on Thursday, March 14 through Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, March 17, at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday evening: Music Students free; General Students/Children $5; Faculty/Staff/Seniors $5; Alumni $10; General Admission Adult $15.
All other shows: Music Students $5; General Students $5; Faculty/Staff/Seniors $10; Alumni $15; General Admission Adult $20.
Tickets are available online, beginning February 27, at http://music.cua.edu. They also will be available before each performance at the box office at Hartke Theatre, which opens one hour before performances.
