Thomas Reilly

Pianist Thomas Reilly has had an active career, nationally and internationally, as a vocal coach, collaborative pianist, educator, and program administrator.  His operatic career has included working as an assistant conductor and chorus master with the Maryland Lyric Opera, Washington Opera, Washington Concert Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and Summer Opera Theater.  He served as the principal coach, pianist, and chorus master for the opera program at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina, for several summers.

 

Internationally, in Caracas, Venezuela, he served on the faculty of the Caracas Opera Center as a pianist, vocal coach, and chorus master. He was an Opera Metropolitana and the Opera de Caracas assistant conductor.  During his time in Caracas, he was privileged to be part of the production team for the opera Simon Bolivar by Darius Milhaud in honor of the 200th anniversary of Bolivar’s birth.

He was the Vocal Program Director at the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival for many years. During his tenure, he also concertized extensively throughout the Amalfi coast.  He is currently a member of their advisory board.

 

He has partnered with singers in venues such as the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, the Phillips Gallery of Art, the Toronto Center for the Arts, the Clinton Presidential Library, the National Gallery of Art, and the White House.

 

Dr. Reilly holds advanced degrees in music, education, and information technology.  He has served multiple times on the judging panels for the Washington International Voice Competition (Friday Morning Music Club), the Annapolis Opera Voice Competition, and the Maryland Lyric Opera Voice Competition.
